Senses. How an 8 year old boy sees the summertime aboard a sailing catamaran. 


Southwest Harbor, Maine:

Smell: gasoline from the dinghy

Taste: limeade from XYZ restaurant

Touch: the feel of the dinghy handle

Sight: the shack next to West Marine

Sound: the sound that daddy's computer made when he forgot to turn it off

Sight: an American Eagle and his mate

Smell: homemade pizza that mom made

Taste: Nutella pizza for dessert

Sound: the sound of the rain on the roof

Texture: the iPod stereo

Sight: the seals I saw

Smell: the sauce for the chicken

Taste: the rice I had

Feel: the feel of the nets on my skin

Sound: the sound of the water on the hulls

Smell: the smell of the pilgrims at the Pilgrims Museum

Sight: the ancient sword I saw

Taste: the ring pop I had

Touch: the piece of Plymouth Rock I touched

Sound: the sound of our tour guide saying "THE ROCK".

Smell: the smell of the meat

Sound: the beeping sound the boat made and the cool engines I heard in the harbor

Sight: the sight of the tacos and the Chevrolet BelAire that I got today

Taste: the taffy I had

Touch: the chain I felt today

Taste: the taste of salt water

Sound: the echo I heard when I was swimming

Sight: the tug boat dock in the canal

Smell: the smell of the chocolate muffin I had

Touch: the texture of the inside of the hull

Taste: the ice cream I had

Smell: the smell of gasoline

Sight: the sight of Woods Hole

Sound: the sound of the echoing 

Touch: the touch of the metal speaker on the boat
